Objective : To provide participants with a fundamental understanding of the history, philosophy, and basic techniques of Kalaripayattu.

Target Audience : Beginners interested in martial arts, fitness, and traditional Indian practices.

Emphasis : Safe and progressive learning, focusing on body awareness, coordination, and foundational movements.

Daily Breakdown

Morning : –
– Introduction to Kalaripayattu: History, philosophy, and different styles.
– Kalari etiquette and safety guidelines.
– Warm-up: Traditional Kalari exercises (Meipayattu), focusing on flexibility and joint mobility.
– Basic postures (Vadivu) and footwork.

Afternoon : –
– Introduction to basic hand movements (Kai Varisa).
– Practice of basic body postures and movements.
– Cool-down and stretching.

Morning : –
– Review of first-day techniques.
– Introduction to basic kicks (Uzhichil).
– Practice of coordinated movements combining postures, hand techniques, and kicks.
– Focus on balance and coordination.

– Introduction to basic animal postures (animal stances are a crucial part of Kalaripayattu).
